Random Travel Jokes

How is the summer treating you so far. Enjoying your summer travel? Here are some really fun travel jokes that I stumbled upon while surfing the endless world of 'INTERNET'.

A mother and her son were flying TWA from Kansas to Chicago. The son (who had been looking out the window) turned to his mother and said, “If big dogs have baby dogs and big cats have baby cats, why don’t big planes have baby planes?” The mother (who couldn’t think of an answer) told her son to ask the stewardess. So the boy asked the stewardess, “If big dogs have baby dogs and big cats have baby cats, why don’t big planes have baby planes?” The stewardess asked, “Did your mother tell you to ask me?” He said that she had. So she said, “Tell your mother that TWA always pulls out on time.”

From a Southwest Airlines employee…. “Welcome aboard Southwest Flight XXX, to YYY. To operate your seatbelt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seatbelt, and if you don’t know how to operate one, you probably shouldn’t be out in public unsupervised. In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with two small children, decide now which one you love more.”

An elderly couple was driving cross-country, and the woman was driving. She gets pulled over by the highway patrol. The officer says, “Ma’am, did you know you were speeding?” The woman turns to her husband and asks, “What did he say?” The old man yells, “HE SAYS YOU WERE SPEEDING.” The patrolman says, “May I see your license?” The woman turns to her husband and asks, “What did he say?” The old man yells, “HE WANTS TO SEE YOUR LICENSE.” The woman gives him her license. The patrolman says, “I see you are from Arkansas. I spent some time there once, had the worst sex with a woman I have ever had.” The woman turns to her husband and asks, “What did he say?” “HE THINKS HE KNOWS YOU,” the old man yells.

A group of Americans was touring Ireland. One of the women in the group was a real curmudgeon, constantly complaining. The bus seats are uncomfortable. The food is terrible. It’s too hot. It’s too cold. The accommodations are awful. The group arrived at the site of the famous Blarney Stone. “Good luck will be followin’ ya all your days if you kiss the Blarney Stone,” the guide said. “Unfortunately, it’s being cleaned today and so no one will be able to kiss it. Perhaps we can come back tomorrow.” “We can’t be here tomorrow,” the nasty woman shouted. “We have some other boring tour to go on. So I guess we can’t kiss the stupid stone.” “Well now,” the guide said, “it is said that if you kiss someone who has kissed the stone, you’ll have the same good fortune.” “AndI suppose you’ve kissed the stone,” the woman scoffed. “No, ma’am,” the frustrated guide said, “but I’ve sat on it.”

Travel Tips for Vacation Makers

Summer is here! Where are you going this year? We all need vacations; we all need to recharge our batteries once in a while. Vacation undeniably is one of the best ways to release your stress. But before and while you are on vacation, one needs to be very careful especially if you are vacationing in a foreign country. Whether you are organizing your own trip or purchasing one of those vacation packages, right from the airport till you return home, we need to be very careful as even a slightest mistake can spoil your entire vacation.

Here are some simple and common yet very helpful tips to help you enjoy a hassle free vacation:

  1. Am pretty sure, I don’t have to add this on the list but let me just do it. Decide carefully on what kind of vacation you want. If you are looking for a stress free vacation, try to avoid hip and bustling cities such as New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Venice, London and Amsterdam. Because these are some of the most visited destinations and visiting any of these cities will just add more stress. Try one of the lesser known destinations. But if you want both the crowd plus relaxation, Bahamas and the Caribbean are a great option.
  2. Be wise in choosing the right travel agent. But instead of a regular travel agent, why don’t you go for an online travel websites. Am sure you will find these websites much cheaper. Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity are some really awesome sites. Don’t forget to compare the rates using websites such as FareCompare and TripMama. Please before finalizing on anything, read the terms and conditions of the website, incase, in future, if you want any changes or cancelation. Just as they offer great airfare deals and vacation packages, they are also very good in ripping customers.
  3. It is always advisable to learn atleast some basic words, if you are traveling to a foreign country. It will help you greatly. If you are visiting a conservative country such as the countries in Middle East, India, Pakistan and so on, please dress as conservative as you can. Unless you enjoy unwanted attention! Don’t forget to take you vaccination as per the country. Collect your country embassy phone number, address and email in that particular city or area.
  4. While shopping, try to bargain as hard as you can. But also research before you head out where bargaining is allowed or not. In countries such as India, China, Thailand, Pakistan, Bargaining is a must in almost every shopping areas and bazaars, with exceptions in malls.
  5. It’s good to party really hard and get waste sometimes, but I would encourage you to do this only when you are with your closest buddies. But do you really want to spoil their night out taking care of you. Try to keep the alcohol intake to minimum or should I say in limit. Excessive alcohol use is a big NO for solo travelers, whether you are a guy or a girl. We all know that once we start drinking, it’s almost impossible to stop. For solo travelers, you have no one to take care of you. There have been many cases where travelers have been robbed while drunk and even sexually assaulted especially in India.
  6. Drugs are another big NO. No matter where you are going, try to avoid drugs and drug dealers. Am sure no one would like to land in a foreign jail especially in a third world country.
  7. These are some common things that you need to be careful while going on a vacation. But the most important of all is, don’t forget to have fun, after all you have worked really hard for this.

United, Continental merger could raise airfares

Consumers probably have more to lose than gain from a merger of United Airlines and Continental Airlines.

The two airlines have already entered into code-sharing agreements and a frequent-flier alliance that provide travelers with many of the benefits of a combined airline. But if the merged airline cuts capacity, it could lead to higher fares and reduced service in some markets.

The consumer impact "is mainly bad," says Ed Perkins, a columnist with SmarterTravel.com. "If you look at what the financial people are saying, the whole purpose of the merger is to reduce competition so they can raise fares. The airlines put up a smokescreen about seamless service and more destinations, but they already do that through these worldwide alliances."

Hints From Heloise: Tips on tipping hotel housekeepers

Dear Heloise:
I just read the comment in your article about tipping housekeepers and maids. I like to tip housekeepers, especially if I am at a hotel for several days. Sometimes they leave an envelope with their name on it. I want to be sure that the ones who do my room are the ones who get the money.

It's very confusing, and I really do care about this because my mother raised me and put me through school on her tips. If I leave a tip in the morning before I leave the room, it might not be the same housekeeper who cared for me the day before.

Rae in Texarkana, via e-mail

Rae, thanks for writing. Here's a hint just for you: Put your tip in one of the hotel envelopes, and leave it at the front desk.

Five iPhone Applications: A Must Have for All

Let’s admit it! We all have been bitten by the IPhone bug. Well, at least me. I have this urge or addiction to keep on looking for the latest application for my IPhone. To be honest, I don’t use those applications that require me to pay. Yeah I am a cheap dude. But seriously with the current economic situation I better worry about paying the bill than spend my very less earned cash on some IPhone applications. But this does not stop me from trying out new applications.

Over the months I have installed and unstalled tons of applications. Some were great but some applications were way to stupid. Here is a list of 5 free IPhone applications that stands out from the rest. (Before you browse down, let me tell you in advance that all these applications are rated as according to my personal experience)

1. FREE Spanish Tutor: I admit it, I love Spanish though I hardly know any words. Taking a Spanish tuition is not my cup of team. The free Spanish tutor serves as my ultimate guru to learn this beautiful language.

3. Virtuoso Piano Free 2: Thanks to who ever created this application, now I can learn piano anytime and anywhere without spending a penny.

How to Get The Best Hotel Rate

Two guest paying different hotel rates for the same service and facilities is not a new story. You must have noticed that even though you and the other guests are offered with the exact room with the same facilities and service, still both of you end up paying different room rates. It really hurts when you discover that you have paid more than the others. Here are some simple tips and tricks that will help you get the best available hotel rates.

* For reasons unknown, you will find the online hotel rates much cheaper than regular travel agents. Next time use an online travel site to book your hotel rooms. If you are booking online, the official website of the hotel is the best place to book. Incase if the hotel does not have a website, you may book from an online travel website. But always book your hotels from a reputed travel website.

* Always do a detail research on the rate of the hotel. Compare the rates with different online travel sites before making any final decision.

* A great way to get the best available hotel is call the hotel directly and ask them politely whether you can get any discounts. For members of various clubs and associations such as AAA, you should always ask the hotel whether you are eligible for any special deals.

* Though this idea is a bit risky but works most of the time. Instead of making an early reservation, walk straight to the hotel and try to negotiate the rate with the front desk staff. Many hotels will give you a discount instead of turning you away. Don’t try this during the peak season. This works during the off season when the establishment is running low on business.

* The best way to get the best available hotel rate is by booking way in advance. Nothing can beat booking in advance when it comes to getting the best hotel price.

Travel Tips For Business Travelers

Some travel for business, some for leisure, while some travel just for the sake of travel, no matter what, travel is an unavoidable part of life. With limited budget and time, occasional flight delays or even lost luggage, business travel may not be the most pleasant things to do. Here are some tips to make business travel smoother.

* Booking in advance is always encouraged. Besides, print out your flight confirmation and keep it in handy just in case. Do not book the last flight.

* Try to reach the airport well in advance. Grab a bite before your flight. Drinking alcohol on the plane is highly discouraged unless you are hitting the sack.

* If this is an over-night flight, try to sleep as much as you can. Put a blind-fold and blanket over your head, while sleeping, this way you can prevent dry throat, plus no one will disturb you.
* Decide on what you will be wearing and pack as light as you can. A travel bag with enough space to hold a change of clothes, laptop, charger, phone, pen, paper is very ideal for business travelers. Never put your laptop or any important documents in your hold luggage.

* Do carry along some extra USB memory sticks (also known as pen drives). A pen and papers are a must, just incase if your lap top battery wears down or face any problems.

Traveling is a very enjoyable experience, even if it’s a business trip, if you spend some time planning. Please feel free to share your tips and idea by posting it as a comment.

Two bars and one restaurant, A must Visit For All

Who haven’t been to elegant restaurants, lively bars, laid back cafes? But have you ever bee to Dwarf cafĂ©, dined in an underwater restaurant or have you ever been to a bar where staffs are trained to get trashed by costumers. No, l I haven’t been to any such places in my life but I would love to visit when my financial condition becomes more stable. Though I won’t mind if someone finances me (how I wish)!

Here are the list, which are a must visit for me in this lifetime!

Hobbit House, Ermita, Philippines: My best buddy and his GF (now ex GF) took a trip to the Philippines last year and on arrival I was browsing though their snaps when I came across this bar. They told me that this was one of the hippest bars in the city and it was totally managed by to Dwarves. Well the reason why I fell in love with this bar was not because they have Dwarves staff but ambiance, the liveliness and the energy of the bar was simply enchanting.

Rising Sun Anger Release Bar, Nanjing, China: Moving on; my next must visit is Rising Sun Anger Release Bar in Nanjing, China, which is a very personal favorite of my. I came across this bar while surfing the net. According the source, here in this bar you can let out your stress, anger and frustration by screaming as loud as you can, smash glasses. But the best part is costumers can even punch, kick or beat up the staff. To top it, you can even let the staffs dress up the way you want him to be, then trash him. In case if you are pissed off with your boss or someone you can just head straight to this place, make a staff dress like you boss and do your stuff. Worry not; the staff wears special protective gears. That’s not all; costumers are also given counseling from local universities psychology students. It’s been also rumored that most of its costumers are women.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, Rangalifinolhu, Maldives: I love this place but I won’t be visiting this restaurant until I get married, even if my financial condition becomes very very stable. The reason, this place is so romantic and I want my visit to this place a memorable one. Situated five meters below sea level, Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is located in Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is the first of its kind in the world. With space to serve upto 14 guests, Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is one of the few places in the world where you can comfortably sit, relax and dine without getting even a single hair wet, though you are dining five meters below the sea.

Do you love to travel? Then am sure going to places you have never been to, experiencing diverse culture, savoring different cuisine and meeting people from across the globe, must excites you.. Well traveling is very safe, compared to some years back. BE it Asia, Africa, Middle East or anywhere else it’s very safe. Unless the country you are visiting is in the middle of a war.

Though traveling is safe, one needs to be always on alert. We should always follow some tips and tricks to avoid those travel pitfalls. If you are planning to travel to a country you have never been to, here are some tips that will help you enjoy a hassle free vacation:

• The most important of all is; do a research of that destination you will be visiting, in advance. Spend some time surfing the net, check out the endless of online travel sites; visit the country official tourist site. Collect information about the current political situation, best time to visit, tips on accommodations, things and places to avoid, medical related tips, your embassy phone number, emergency numbers and so on.

• Knowing the local customs and traditions is very important, especially while traveling to Middle-East, Africa and some parts of Asia. This includes like how you should dress, especially for ladies, public display of affection (PDA), hand gesture and so on.

• No matter, where you are heading, always try your best to dress like the locals. Leave all your blings at home, try to avoid white sneakers, especially white, and fanny pack. Don’t show off that ultra-chic digital camera or any electronic gadgets like cell phones, iPods in the public.

• As any wise traveler would do, do not keep all your important documents like credit cards, cash, ID cards, and passport in the same place. Get at least three photocopy all your important documents. Never give your passport to the hotel clerks, but in some countries like Italy, you need to surrender your passport to the hotel clerk. In this case, while submitting demand the hotel to issue some sort of written proof that the passport is with the hotel.

• Always carry your bags, handbags or suitcase on the side of the body not facing the traffic. Always be on alert while using public transportations like bus or trains. Avoid places which are not well-lighted. Never exchange your currency with illegal agents.

You need not worry about a thing, even if you are traveling to a complete foreign country. All you have to do is plan wisely and follow common pre-cautions. Head out to the streets of the world, explore and experience the world, life loves to be ridden to the fullest.

Five airlines won't charge for carry-ons

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., says he'll meet with the head of Spirit Airlines today to try to end the airline's upcoming fees for carry-on luggage and that the heads of five other airlines have assured him they won't mimic the policy.

The flying public has been dealing grudgingly with fees airlines have been adding to airfares, including for checked bags, Schumer said.

"But charging for carry-on bags is a step over the line and it shouldn't happen," Schumer said at Westchester County Airport. "When I heard Spirit Airlines was going to charge $45 for each carry-on bag, I said, 'Enough already.' "

Good News for American Airlines frequent flier club Members

American Airlines frequent flier club members can get extra bonus miles on certain transcontinental flights. Customers can earn up to 50,000 bonus miles on nonstop transcontinental routes between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport or San Francisco International Airport.

The company is also offering more flights between Chicago O’Hare and Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, New York. They will double their airline miles on those routes from April 6 and June 30, 2010.

There are rumors that the airline may be headed towards a labor strike this summer. Two of the three unions say the employees deserve more money.

Chairman and CEO, Gerard Arpey, said he didn’t think the merger of two U.S. rivals posed a threat to AMR. There are talks of a merger between UAL Corp.’s (UAUA) United Airlines and US Airways Group Inc. (LCC). The merger would make American the third largest air carrier.

Spirit airlines to charge for excess baggage

Bad News for travelers who thought they could get around checked bag fees may have to think again. Spirit Airlines in the U.S. said this week it will charge passengers for putting carry-on bags in overhead storage bins. It’s believed to be the first airline in the world to add baggage fees for carry-on items.

Florida-based Spirit said there will be no charge for “personal items” such as laptop bags or purses, provided they can fit under the seat. But if they’re too big and have to go in the overhead compartments, the airline said it will charge up to $45 (all figures U.S.) for the privilege.
Fliers who register their carry-on bag in advance will only have to pay $30 for the carry-on. If you join the airline’s Fare club, which costs $9, you’ll pay $20 for the carry-on. Spirit also charges for checked bags.
